Our Vet

Dr. Bridgette Shewmaker-Cochran D.V.M

At a very young age I developed a passion for animals… partly because my father and my younger brother were both veterinarians. Throughout my own career, helping pet parents to keep their precious companions healthy has been major focus and the very reason for my existence.

The conversation during our family dinners is almost solely focused around pet health, pet food and nutrition plus interesting health problems we all face everyday.

I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor in Animal Biology in 1997. I went on to receive my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2003. During my studies at Kansas State, I was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, Graduated with Honors – Magna Cum Laude and received an award for Proficiency in Ophthalmology.

In 2003 I took a course at the Chi institute in mixed animal veterinary acupuncture. I have always had in interest in alternative medicine and integrating it with western medicine.

I have been practicing for over 14 years, with my main focus being preventative medicine.

I am a current member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association and Florida Veterinary Medicine Association. I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my family. One of my favorite quotes is by an unknown author – “Two feet move our body but four paws move our souls.”
